Why I base my work on the principles of Functional Medicine
With you reading this page, my guess is that you have been struggling with persistent health issues for some time and you may feel let down by the health care system. Maybe you’ve even been told “It’s all in your head”. Yet, you are still looking for answers and want to believe that there is a better way. That’s exactly where I was in 2012. I was determined to find a way to get healthy and I feel very grateful for having found functional medicine.
While conventional medicine is excellent at treating acute problems such as heart attacks, pneumonia or a broken leg, functional medicine provides the answers to rebuilding health from persistent or recurring problems as well as to maintaining health.
Instead of suppressing symptoms through medication, functional medicine looks for the root cause of the issue. It finds the person’s needs that are unmet in the areas of diet, rest, exercise and stress reduction. By providing what’s missing and creating health building habits based on individual needs all of the body’s systems can be brought back into balance. That’s what we need to thrive!
I’ve experienced it myself, I’ve seen it with clients and being involved in the rapidly growing functional medicine community, I believe that this new way of thinking is the medicine of the future. As this personalised, patient centred approach hugely benefits from the right kind of testing, I work in collaboration with doctors who also embrace the principles of functional medicine.
As a Functional Medicine Health Coach I don’t diagnose or treat disease, instead I coach up the body’s innate ability to heal and coach down those factors that derailed the body’s equilibrium. I support you with creating your personal new behaviours in the areas of diet, rest, exercise and stress reduction that allow your body to re-create and maintain balance.
You know that life has more in store for you than feeling mediocre, trust your instincts, take charge of your health and create the life you love!
